~*Portland*~

Over Memorial Day weekend we took a trip down to Portland Oregon, which is about 3 hours south. We left on Saturday after Nate got home from bicycling and stayed until Monday Morning. We had a good time but it was definately a short and quick vacation :O) When we got there Saturday night it was almost 8pm, and so we hit the mall up for a quick bite to eat before heading back to the hotel... Noah in the mall :O)
The hotel was nice and it was great that they offered a full hot cooked breakfast everyday.. Here is Sky and Aubrie relaxing before our full day of outings...
And here is Sky and Noah (and Nate) :o)
The first place we went was Silver Falls waterfall park, its a park with 7 miles of hiking trails that goes through 7 different waterfalls! It was absolutely amazing... On the way there there were tons of little tree farms, which we were amazed by :) (Nate wants to own one)
We decided to start out at South Falls and see how far we could make it with the kiddos. Mom held Aubrie in the sling and Noah just walked! Mom,Aubrie, Sky and Noah by South Falls...
We took a small off trail hike to this small fall ( cant remember the name)

Nate, Noah and Sky

Sky
Heading under the waterfall, trying not to get too wet.. One word of advice, dont wear flip flops while hiking, both Sky and I did and it was slippery and uncomfortable with all the rocks poking in our feet lol...
Keeping dry in a small cave under the waterfalls
Sky
Another fun cave!

Quite the troopers. Noah enjoyed the hike which was a surprise to us as he would only last 5 minutes with hikes with Nate in the past. Sky, she doesn't really enjoy hiking as you can see from her face in most of the photos.. :) She hates bugs and dirt.(although I think she enjoyed herself a bit) We had to laugh when she got some nasty green gooey thing on her leg... (We just told her it was mud but who knows what it was!) Aubrie just slept most of the way down.
Noah reluctantly getting his photo taken in a dead tree..
Daddy and Son (they adore each other)
Lower South Falls
When going under Lower South falls... We had to step on the rocks to avoid wading through the 5 inch deep puddles. That gets tricky when wearing flip flops and holding a baby, but we made it!
The fungus amung us

Family photo, I hate this picture of me (tired and large lol) but everyone else looks cute!
Resting on the way up the trail. After a little over a mile in we decided to take the trail back to the car. It was then that Skys energy turned up a notch and she got excited. Noah and I were huffing and puffing ( it was switch backs all the way up)and Sky and Dad were running. (Sky was excited to get back to the car lol) I have never seen Sky with that much energy!
Sky took this pic of Aubrie :)

The trail once we got upon the ridge line
Noah was OUT once he hit the carseat... so tired! He did an awesome job though! Nate was good at keeping him excited when he was sooo exhausted :O)
Next, we went back to the hotel to clean up and feed Aubrie ( she would only eat if she was at the hotel laying on the bed.) Then we hit the Portland Satuday Market, where a bunch of artists bring their goods to sell.

After the market, back to the hotel to feed Aubrie... For dinner we met up with some friends that mom has known online for years! Fara, Miles and Chris...Went to a pizza place and then to an awesome park that Fara knew about... It was alot of fun and so nice to finally meet them!( except for the fact that Noah was not a happy camper at the resteraunt, shyness mixed with, hunger and tiredness. I think this was the worst we had seen him, poor guy!) I should have brough my camera... We got back to the hotel around 9pm, got Noah to bed and Aubrie fed and then Sky, mom and Aubrie went down to the pool. (Sky swam) I forgot my camera here too, but this is the pool.(by Sky) Pretty funky!
Last but not least, Monday we got up, ate breakfast and headed home ( stopping at the outlets on the way)... The kids did really good in the car, amazingly. Sky and Noah are usually fighing like cats and dogs (usually over Noah touching Aubrie or her carseat lol) but they didnt fight once! Aubrie did cry for about the last 1/4 of the trip. She was more then ready to be out of her carseat. It was a busy and nice trip but was definately nice to be home :O) I think next time we need to leave Satuday morning and so we have more time!Aubrie took a few days to get readjusted )It seemed like she cried all day for a couple days, poor girl..but she is happy again :O) And this will end my novel :O) I think this was probably my longest post! :O)
